About the role: Working closely with the Design Manager, you’ll be proactive in spotting the latest design and social trends, translating them into fresh, original prints and product ideas. You’ll play a key role in supporting the design process from concept through to launch – researching trends, developing your own designs, and preparing specification sheets that bring our vision to life. Collaboration will be central to your role. You’ll work with Buying, Merchandising, and Technical teams, as well as our supplier partners, to deliver innovative and commercially relevant products for our Papershop category. Confident in responding to briefs, you’ll focus on creating print & product designs that fit with our brand values. Proactive communications with the buying and design teams, creating awareness of emerging trends, product categories and colours. Conducting customer and competitor research to inform your designs, create reports to share within design team meetings. Contributing to the department's design direction, being proactive in identifying core lines, key statements and colours to drive sales. Understanding best and worst lines to influence seasonal strategy and product opportunities. Supporting in designing balanced ranges understanding range principles. Supporting the delivery of 'must haves' and seasonal/trend products for our customer. Resolving day to day operational issues/queries, escalating where appropriate. Assisting your manager by designing the correct number of options to meet the needs of the department. Compiling brief packs to achieve 'right first time' quality buying sample. Playing your role in delivering the design component of the General Merchandise critical path. You will need: Proven experience in a creative design role. Experience in Design - product, fashion, furniture, textiles, surface pattern, decorative arts. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; MS Office, InDesign and Procreate experience are a bonus. Previous experience & confidence with hand illustration.
