Park Operations Assistant - Thorndon Country Park

This is a permanent, part-time position on an annualised hours contract, requiring a minimum of 964.59 hours per year. The pro-rata salary is £12,540.50 per annum. Shifts include working 37 hours across a two-week rota, involving Saturdays, Sundays, and 3 to 4 evenings per week for 2 hours for cleaning and lock-up, with shift times varying throughout the year.
The role requires mobility throughout the operational area. A driving licence and access to a vehicle are necessary, or the ability to meet mobility requirements through other means.
The Opportunity
Based at Thorndon Country Park, the Park Operations Assistant ensures the park is secure and accessible during key times. This includes maintaining safe, well-presented facilities for visitors. Accountabilities
* Manage car park access points, ensuring they are open during public hours and securely closed when the park is closed.
* Maintain cleanliness and functionality of toilet facilities, reporting repairs as needed.
* Engage with visitors to enhance their experience and handle any issues.
* Operate basic machinery and drive park vehicles.
* Perform grounds maintenance, including using a strimmer, ride-on mower, and other machinery.
* Ensure facilities and storage areas are secure and accessible.
* Support general operational activities.
* Maintain park cleanliness by litter picking and bin emptying.
* Conduct health and safety checks on play areas and complete necessary paperwork.
* Monitor livestock as required.
* Assist rangers with various park duties.
The Experience You Will Bring
* Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE or BTEC) or equivalent by experience.
* Experience in customer service and engaging with the public.
* Good communication skills for delivering information and advice.
* Experience working in a team and supporting team objectives.
