Overview
Highways Delivery Manager role at STRABAG in Manchester, UK. Responsible for leading the delivery of highways projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with client, statutory, and contractual requirements, and coordinating with stakeholders to maintain safety, quality, and value.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of highways projects from inception through to completion, ensuring compliance with client, statutory, and contractual requirements.
* Manage contractors, consultants, and supply chains to deliver programmes of work effectively.
* Ensure projects are delivered to agreed timescales, cost, quality, and health & safety standards.
* Support with the development and submission of consents. Manage and adhere to all consent conditions.
* Oversee construction activities, traffic management, and roadworks coordination to minimise disruption to the public.
* Provide accurate project reporting, progress updates, and risk/issue management to senior stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with relevant UK highways standards, CDM Regulations, and Health & Safety at Work legislation.
* Manage budgets, monitor costs, and ensure value for money in project delivery.
* Build strong relationships with local authorities, National Highways, utility companies, and community stakeholders.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery.
* Support the development and mentoring of junior staff within the highways team.

Qualifications
* Proven experience managing highways or civil engineering projects in the UK.
* Strong knowledge of highways standards (e.g., DMRB, Manual for Streets) and construction best practices.
* Experience working with NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4).
* Excellent understanding of CDM Regulations and safety management.
* Strong project management and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts effectively.
* Competent in the use of project management and reporting tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
* Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* SMSTS certification preferred.
* Chartered or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, CIHT, APM).
