A well-established manufacturer near Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Delivery Driver / Transport Co-ordinator to support its busy logistics operation. The role combines hands-on driving and delivery work with planning, scheduling, and day-to-day coordination of a small fleet. You'll ensure smooth, safe, and efficient transport of goods between the company and its local sub-contractors, maintaining a professional and organised service at all times.
Pay & Hours:
£28,000 - £32,000 (DOE)
Monday to Thursday, 08:00 - 16:30
Friday, 08:00 - 15:30
Full-time, permanent positionWhat You Will Be Doing:
Driving company vehicles to deliver and collect parts within approximately a 50-mile radius (typically 5-7 drops per day)
Safely loading, securing, and unloading goods using correct techniques and ratchet straps
Planning daily transport schedules and coordinating deliveries in line with production priorities
Conducting pre-driver checks and maintaining vehicle cleanliness, safety, and compliance
Managing basic transport administration, including mileage and driver records, tachograph downloads, and maintenance logs
Liaising with sub-contractors and internal teams to ensure timely, accurate deliveries and collectionsWho Are We Looking For?
Proven experience as a professional driver; experience in transport coordination is desirable but not essential
Full, valid licence for driving a 3.5-tonne vehicle with a 3.5-tonne trailer
Understanding of vehicle safety, operator licence compliance, and transport regulations
Good organisational and communication skills with a practical, methodical approach
Confident using computers for basic administration and record-keeping
