Job Overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. This role is part of the Wessex Secure Data Environment (SDE) and the Southampton Emerging Therapies and Technologies (SETT) Centre, supporting the delivery of data projects to scale data for research across the region and nationally.


About The Team

* The SETT Data & AI Research Unit is the data science arm of the hospital. The team develops data pipelines to extract clinical data from clinical data systems for provision to the SDE, working closely with R&D to ensure data contracts, funding, governance and sponsorship are in place.
* University Hospital Southampton hosts the Wessex Secure Data Environment (SDE), part of a national programme to maximise the use of NHS data, with consistent standards and interoperability, managed by CIRU and the University of Southampton.

Main Responsibilities

* Manage delivery of technical enablement and healthcare research projects, data marts and data pipelines.
* Work with stakeholders across Wessex to deliver data projects, liaising with clinical, technical and senior management teams.
* Coordinate with SETT Data, R&D and CIRU personnel.
* Engage with national groups such as BRC, genomics networks and NHS England for coordination and delivery of national projects.
* Establish and operate programme and project governance.


What you will do

* Work autonomously to lead and deliver projects using appropriate methodologies, including developing project initiation documents, stakeholder maps, project plans, RAID logs, RACI matrices, communication and engagement plans.
* Create weekly highlight reports and project board reports.
* Use project management software such as ZoHo, ClickUp, EDGE, Excel and Word.
* Document risk and issues, managing or escalating as appropriate.
* Report to senior management and boards as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience


Essential criteria

* Relevant Bachelor degree (Tech, Business, Change) or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience.
* Master’s or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience.
* Recognised project management qualification to practitioner level or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and practical experience of the management and successful delivery of full project lifecycle of medium projects.
* Practical experience of presenting complex and technical information to internal and external groups.
* Project management skills including use of multiple methodologies (waterfall and agile).
* Knowledge of creation, review, update and reporting of standard project artefacts.
* Knowledge of analysing complex technical information relating to programmes and presenting to a variety of audiences.
* Knowledge of identifying, sourcing, assimilating and applying relevant clinical, system and setting specific technical knowledge.
* Knowledge of identifying complex project risks and issues and developing detailed mitigation strategies.
* Understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.


Desirable criteria

* Recognised change management qualifications (risk, benefits, change, business analysis).
* Other project and change management training courses.
* Staff management training courses.
* Experience with full project lifecycle of medium, small and very small change projects in an NHS Trust or provider.
* Evidence of recent further professional development.
