The Role:
As a handy person, you will work closely with the Site and Facilities Manager and the operations team to ensure the smooth running of the academy's facilities. Your responsibilities will include:
4. Overseeing general security, maintenance, and safeguarding of the school premises and grounds
5. Performing general labouring duties such as portering, grounds upkeep, joinery, plumbing, electrical works, and minor project supervision
6. Reconfiguring furniture and equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and social spaces according to standard layouts or specific requirements
7. Setting up equipment for internal and external events, training sessions, and meetings
8. Installing and removing signage across the academy
9. Distributing parcels, packages, and IT consumables to relevant departments
10. Assisting with building maintenance and reporting any faults to the Site & Facilities Manager
11. Undertaking supervisory duties of learners during start and finish times, and during breaks
12. Supervising thepletion of academy PPM's and sitepliance checks across the entire site
13. Assisting colleagues and managing on-site storage, work areas, and waste systems
14. Providing weekly reports and attending meetings with the Site & Facilities Manager on team progress and status
Requirements:
15. Ability to work in accordance with good health & safety and manual handling practices
16. Experience is H&S training - fire plans, risk assessments etc
17. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to meet deadlines
18. Attention to detail, highly organised, and efficient approach to tasks
19. Ability to respond effectively to reactive work requests and work independently
20. Previous experience in security, estates/facilities, and front-line customer service (advantageous)
21. A can-do attitude, proactive problem-solving skills, and a passion for continuous improvement
22. Willingness to undertake health and safety training, including manual handling principles and practice
23. Ability to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the role
24. Suitable physical fitness level, as the role may involve significant manual handling activities at times
