Position Purpose
The CNC Milling Machinist plays a key role in the precision manufacturing of components using CNC milling equipment. This position involves the setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines to produce parts in accordance with engineering drawings and technical specifications. The machinist ensures all products meet strict quality and dimensional standards while maintaining efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement across machining operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up, program, and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components as per engineering drawings and specifications.
* Perform detailed quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometres, and gauges to verify conformance to tolerances.
* Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and CNC programs for each production run.
* Optimize machining parameters and processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality.
* Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machining or process issues, escalating complex technical problems as appropriate.
* Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of machines to ensure operational reliability.
* Accurately interpret and work from engineering drawings, CAD models, and work instructions.
* Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to address manufacturing challenges and implement process improvements.
* Maintain compliance with all workplace health, safety, and quality standards.
Foundation / Position Requirements
Skills and experience (incl years of experience) necessary to meet the expectations and requirements for the role (technical expertise, qualifications, certifications, work experience in a subject matter/function).
* Experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
* Familiarity with manual machining, such as lathe, press brake, or surface grinding.
* Knowledge of CNC programming (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain)
* Knowledge of Autodesk Fusion
* Experience working in aerospace, automotive, or high-precision industries.
