The Operations Manager is an integral role in the DVSA Corporate Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the national delivery of operational services to meet customer expectations. Joining our department offers many benefits, including:

The post holder will lead operations delivery teams of 250-300 staff through supporting managers. They will ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery, value for money, and effective operational processes. This role has a direct impact on road safety outcomes and involves developing business improvements, managing performance, and talent development. The role also acts as a link to the Service Directorate, providing operational insights to support business improvements and ensuring standards are maintained.


Responsibilities include:

1. Providing leadership, influence, and guidance to staff to support objectives, establishing a clear vision, and upholding the reputation of the agency and civil service.
2. Leading the operational delivery of vehicle testing across networked teams, ensuring quality and consistency.
3. Ensuring networks meet operational standards, quality expectations, and service targets.
4. Maintaining effective communication and engagement with staff and management.
5. Developing operational plans to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services.
6. Driving improvements based on QA and audits, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
7. Collaborating on strategic business planning with relevant managers.
8. Acting as a liaison for specific services, providing operational expertise and supporting legislative and policy updates.
9. Coordinating with internal departments to meet customer needs and communicate requirements effectively.
