About EDClass:

EDClass is a DfE accredited online alternative provision that provides both live teaching and independent, personalised learning experiences for students

who are unable to attend mainstream school – including those with medical needs, anxiety or exclusion.

EDClass is dedicated to providing high-quality, flexible, and supportive learning experiences for all students. We believe in fostering a positive and

engaging educational environment where students can thrive.

“It is vital that despite the wrong choices the student may have made, they are offered a chance to continue their learning and education

during what can be a very difficult time. Students are promptly placed on a seat on EDClass and are set relevant work that they would otherwise

miss out on.” – Scott Sweeney, BBG Academy.

Our commitment to safeguarding is a cornerstone of our provision and this was recognised by the DfE in our accreditation visit:

“Safeguarding lies at the heart of all things in this setting.” EDClass is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young

people. To be successful in this role, you must be eligible to receive a DBS check that is relevant to the post.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking passionate, creative and adaptive maths teachers to join our growing teaching team.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced maths teachers who are ready to step outside of the traditional classroom, but still have the desire to deliver

meaningful, high-impact learning to classes of up to 16 students. Based in our Head Office in Sheffield, you will work with a team of like-minded educators to

plan and deliver engaging online maths lessons for students to access both live and independently. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to design immersive and flexible content, and work with our videographer to bring maths to life outside of the office. Previous lessons have been filmed at: The Deep (Hull) for biology, geography, and maths lessons, The Butterfly House for ecology and cross-curricular English, Staffordshire War Museum for history and maths lessons. This is a fantastic opportunity for a tech-savvy educator with a flair for creating fun and interesting learning experiences, whilst enjoying an excellent work-life balance.

Teachers at EDClass have a daily schedule that incorporates: live teaching sessions with classes of up to 16 students; curriculum time for planning and

creating content for students to access independently; time to plan for filming on-location and to request edits on footage already filmed; marking and

providing feedback to students on their work; CPD for areas of development.

Key Responsibilities:

To Deliver High-Quality Online Teaching:

●Provide engaging and interactive live online maths lessons to small groups (up to 16 students) at KS3 / KS4 level.

●Plan and create immersive, engaging maths lessons that cater to our students’ diverse learning styles.

●Utilise a variety of online teaching tools to enhance student learning, including facilitating dynamic live sessions that support and challenge

learners.

●Monitor student progress to provide constructive, effective feedback to support students in their development and progress in maths.

To Create Innovative Educational Content:

●Develop original and engaging educational content, to film onsite or on-location with our videography team.

●Collaborate with the Head of Curriculum to ensure alignment with our curriculum objectives and creation of e-learning tasks.

●Contribute to the development of a rich and diverse online curriculum through for independent student access and revision.

To Embrace Technology and Software Systems:

●Demonstrate proficiency in adapting to using our custom online teaching platform to deliver lessons and track engagement.

●Stay up-to-date with emerging educational technologies and incorporate them into teaching delivery during online lessons.

●Troubleshoot technical issues and provide support to both students and colleagues.

To Foster a Supportive and Flexible Learning Environment:

●Build positive and supportive relationships with students online and provide individualised support to address specific learning needs and

challenges.

●Re-engage learners who may be struggling with mainstream education.

●Adhere to our ethos of flexibility and adaptability, ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education.

Safeguarding:

●Maintain a high regard for the safeguarding of all pupils, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.

●Identify and report any safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately to the safeguarding team.

●Maintain professional working relationship with students and colleagues.

“Since EDClass has been implemented at Merrill Academy, we have seen an increase in student engagement when they are unable to attend the

Academy. It has been an invaluable resource within our SEND and safeguarding teams as some students who have struggled to access the

academy, have had work provided during their difficult periods. This has meant that they did not develop meaningful gaps in their education so

could reintegrate easily.” - Adele Chilton, Merrill Academy.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Proven experience in online teaching or a strong understanding of online learning principles, including the successful delivery of live online lessons.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially within live online environments.

Strong technological proficiency with the ability to adapt to our online teaching platform.

Strong subject knowledge and the ability to create engaging, fun and original educational content in the classroom and on-location.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:

Experience in developing and delivering creative and engaging lessons online.

Experience in creating e-learning materials.

What We Offer:

Weekly 1-to-1s in your first 4 weeks and monthly PTRs with you line mangers for continuous support.

Protected daily planning / CPD / marking time.

Creative autonomy – plan lessons and film content in inspiring locations.

Set working hours of 8am – 4.30pm with zero expectation to complete work outside of these times.
