Do you have experience working in a Respiratory setting and looking for a new challenge?

We are pleased to offer a full-time Band 6 Nurse/Physiotherapist vacancy within the Respiratory and Home Oxygen Service in Oxfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced nurse/ physiotherapist to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing specialist respiratory care and pulmonary rehabilitation to patients living with chronic respiratory conditions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals across Oxfordshire, helping to optimise their respiratory health, improve quality of life, and support self-management.

You will work in a variety of settings including hospital in-reach, outpatient clinics, patients' homes, and group rehabilitation venues. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and clinical responsibility, supported by strong professional leadership and opportunities for ongoing development.

We are looking for individuals with a passion for respiratory care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across health and social care boundaries. Experience in respiratory nursing/ physiotherapy is desirable, although training and support will be provided for the right candidates.

Please note this is a fixed term contract for a period of 12 months.


Main duties of the job

* Lead care for patients with chronic respiratory disease and those on oxygen therapy, empowering self-management and reducing hospital admissions.
* Manage exacerbations in the community, support early hospital discharge, and optimise therapy for long-term respiratory conditions.
Assess and arrange oxygen therapy, deliver pulmonary rehabilitation, and provide case management for complex and end-stage patients.
* Promote independence and wellbeing, and provide education for patients, carers, and healthcare staff.
* Undertake specialist assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with complex respiratory conditions, using evidence-based guidelines (BTS, NICE, GOLD) to optimise care and reduce acute events.
* Manage acute exacerbations in hospital and community settings, arrange and review oxygen therapy, and assess suitability for pulmonary rehabilitation.
* Provide holistic care across the disease trajectory, including palliative support, treatment planning, and evaluation of outcomes.
* Act as an expert clinical resource, delivering education to patients, carers, and healthcare staff, while maintaining accurate records and managing clinical risk.
