Job Summary
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player who can demonstrate high standards of reception and administrative skills to join the Health Records Team. The successful candidate will be based at Seaton Delaval but will be required to work on other sites within the Trust to ensure a high quality service at all times.
This demanding role requires flexibility and the ability to cover various shifts, including weekends and all Bank Holidays. The post holder must be able to work under pressure to meet the needs of the service. Full training will be provided to enable the candidate to work as part of the team in the Central Medical Records Library, Medical Records Hubs, Main Outpatients at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham Hospitals, Gynecology, Antenatal, Morpeth View and Main Reception areas.
Responsibilities
* Receive patients and visitors into the reception areas with accurate and efficient recording and processing of patient activity using NHS computer systems including Patient Administration System (PAS) and Mediviewer.
* Provide non‑clinical advice to patients, relatives, the public and internal and external agencies.
* Work in partnership with colleagues in the Health Records Hubs, wards and departments across the Trust to provide a high‑quality service that enhances the patient experience.
* Manage the physical aspects of the role involving moving and handling flatbeds and trolleys, using stepladders, and standing for long periods in reception areas.
* Follow corporate and local policies and comply with the Trust confidentiality policy in line with GDPR.
* Provide customer‑oriented service and maintain excellent service delivery throughout the department.
Qualifications & Skills
* Good interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and service users.
* Good numeracy, literacy and keyboard skills to enable accurate data capture.
* Knowledge of GDPR and the ability to prioritise and organise workload with competing and changing priorities.
* Experience of working with the general public and demonstrating professionalism at all times.
* Good knowledge of NHS computer systems, particularly PAS and Mediviewer.
* Flexibility to cover various shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
