Care Group Support Manager - Paediatrics and Neonates

You will have delegated responsibilities in supporting the Care Group Manager/Deputy Care Group Manager and clinical teams with a wide range of operational and administrative duties, including oversight of the 18‑week RTT pathways and access processes, line‑management of a team of medical secretaries and ward administration staff, and project support and data collection against performance targets as required.

This is the perfect role for anyone wishing to progress into a first‑line management position. The post holder will be a key member of the Care Group Team and will share our commitment to delivering the best possible care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

* Providing business support to the Care Group, including monitoring of RTT targets where appropriate.
* Managing the work of an administrative function.
* Carrying out administrative tasks.
* Providing day‑to‑day line‑management to the admin team and offering cover for other administrative services within the Care Group.
* Communicating information with patients, relatives and staff on a variety of departmental matters and procedures.
* Communicating complex administrative information to staff from other departments and external contacts.
* Communicating complex, sensitive, contentious information with a range of stakeholders, where persuasion or negotiation is required.
* Using judgement when analysing business performance information and making decisions to ensure targets are achieved.
* Developing and implementing plans/work‑streams and managing services/projects to ensure targets are met.
* Communicating with patients on non‑clinical matters (e.g. appointment times, providing directions or explaining local procedures).
* Developing and implementing administration policies for own area of work.
* Maintaining stock levels and making orders through appropriate systems, authorising signatures for small amounts.
* Providing day‑to‑day management to staff.
* Undertaking surveys or audits, including completing staff surveys and basic audit proformas.
* Monitoring and maintaining information systems.
* Developing databases/spreadsheets and collating/reproducing reports on a regular basis.
* Optimising the use of technology for own area of work.


Additional Responsibilities

* Familiarising and complying with relevant operational, personnel, health and safety policies and procedures.
* Actively participating in the Trust appraisal process.
* Maintaining confidentiality at all times in relation to patients, staff and the Trust.
* Adhering to Operational, Personnel, Health and Safety Policies and procedures, including Fire, COSHH, No Smoking and Alcohol.
* Acting as a Change Agent to minimise clinical risk and add value to the patient experience.
* Ensuring a quality‑oriented approach to care that recognises patients' needs and places them at the centre of all activities.
* Participating in personal professional development programmes and encouraging this ethos in other staff.
* Seeking opportunities to develop new knowledge and acquire new skills relevant to the role.
* Working with teams to adhere to financial management controls, identifying areas of efficiency and controlling spend.
* Providing support during tender or procurement exercises.
* Providing general business support to the Divisional Management Team in current service delivery and future service redesign.
