The Credit Controller will take ownership of the company’s credit control function, ensuring efficient management of receivables, proactive debt recovery, and robust credit risk assessment. This role combines hands-on credit management with analytical and strategic input, supporting the wider finance team in driving strong cash flow and effective risk mitigation.
Senior Credit Controller – Key Responsibilities
 * Manage and prioritise the shared credit control inbox, ensuring all customer queries and payment issues are handled promptly and professionally.
 * Evaluate customer creditworthiness, establish and maintain appropriate credit limits, and ensure adherence to company credit policies.
 * Take ownership of overdue accounts, leading on debt recovery strategies, negotiating payment terms, and escalating problem debts as necessary.
 * Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to encourage timely payments and support ongoing commercial relationships.
 * Prepare and present regular reports on aged debt, DSO performance, and collection trends, providing actionable insights to senior management.
 * Collaborate with finance, commercial, and sales teams to forecast cash flow, identify risks, and implement measures to improve working capital efficiency.
 * Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the credit control process, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance controls.
 * Provide guidance to junior team members, sharing best practices and supporting their development within the credit control function.
Senior Credit Controller – Essential
 * Significant experience in credit control or accounts receivable, with at least part of that experience at a senior or supervisory level.
 * Demonstrated ability to manage complex or high-value ledgers with a proactive and results-driven approach.
 * Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
 * Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
 * Highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
 * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) advantageous.
 * Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
 * Commercially astute, with a sound understanding of the impact of credit management on overall business performance.
