Salary: £28,233 - £34,371 (please note appointments are usually made at the start of the pay band),
full-time, permanent.
This is a new post created to support a growing area of work within NWN as the organisation embarks on a transformational capital development project in Newcastle upon Tyne. You’ll undertake a period of induction and will work closely with colleagues to get to know the role.
This role is ideal for someone interested in gaining or building their experience in financial and governance management within both Charity and Trading Operations. You will have a meticulous eye for detail and process and will enjoy telling the story of the numbers. You’ll be comfortable working both independently and within a small, productive team.
You’ll have autonomy within your area of work and the support of colleagues and your line manager who you will meet with at least monthly and more often during your induction period. Longer term, there will be scope for the role to grow for the right candidate.

About New Writing North
New Writing North is the writing development agency for the North of England, and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. We work in partnership with regional and national partners to produce a range of literary and performance activities including flagship projects such as the Northern Writers’ Awards, Young Writers, the David Cohen Prize, the Gordon Burn Prize and Durham Book Festival.
We are a small organisation with a dedicated, creative team, supported by a great board of trustees. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne since 1996, we work to support writers, readers and literature across the North of England.
Together with Northumbria University we are developing a centre for writing and publishing in Newcastle. The public building will host programmes, courses, and events for professional and aspiring writers, for those who write purely for the love of it and for those who want to try creative writing for the first time. The centre will be a place for communities across the region to engage with creative writing and reading. Read more about this ambition here.
