Principal Independent Peer Review Assessor

Role Overview
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with typically 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
As a Principal Independent Peer Review Assessor, you’ll be responsible for examining safety documents, conducting peer reviews, presenting findings to the Nuclear Safety Committee, managing external consultants, and formulating IPR strategy and policy.
Responsibilities
* Conduct Independent Peer Review, in accordance with established procedures, of safety documents and policy, methodology, strategy and guidance documents generated under arrangements to satisfy the BMS, Nuclear Site Licence and MOD Authorisation
* Present the findings of Peer Review to the members of the Nuclear Safety Committee
* Manage the conduct of consultants sub‑contracted for the execution of external Peer Review as lead assessor
* Assist in formulating IPR strategy and policy to address emergent issues
* Prepare Peer Review reports to the required standards and timescales, and incorporate them in the SCaNDS/IPR database and the Licensee’s documentation archive
Essential Experience
* General experience of safety related engineering in a high hazard industry
* Significant experience in the conduct of safety analysis, including FMECA, fault tree analysis, etc.
* Experience in the development, management and analysis of fault schedules and the derivation of safety functional requirements
* Experience authoring safety case claims, arguments and evidence to demonstrate risk management
* Understanding of Naval Base infrastructure and submarine engineering (advantageous)
Qualifications
* Degree in an appropriate Scientific or Engineering discipline
* Chartered accreditation by an appropriate Professional Institution
* Completion of NUC0793 Nuclear Plant Foundation Course Module 1 (or equivalent)
* Completion of NUC0794 Nuclear Fundamentals (Foundation) Course Module 2 (or equivalent)
* Completion of NUC0911 Introduction to Safety Engineering
Security Clearance
Must achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Some positions may be subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
