The Design Team at North Tyneside Council looks to appoint a highly motivated Electrical Designer as part of its multi-disciplinary service within the Housing and Property Services directorate.
The selected candidate will support the delivery of the Authority’s Capital Investment Programmes. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver a diverse range of works that include (but are not limited to) leisure centres, schools, museums and new build housing, as well as the delivery of compliance activities within budget, on time and to a high standard.
Working alongside our Mechanical Design Engineer, they will oversee the delivery of M&E design for a diverse programme of work generated by the Council across its Asset portfolio, using expertise and knowledge to determine solutions to problems within our service area and the wider Authority.
Leading on the preparation and delivery of small, medium and large design projects from inception through to completion and post completion, with a typical involvement across RIBA stages 3-6, you will work closely with a wider design team of consultants, project managers and contracts managers.
The ability to design to several works’ packages that require a detailed understanding of statutory and legislative regulations on refurbishment, new build and upgrading of social housing, schools and public buildings is essential. The role will require the assessment of condition and preparation of reports on existing electrical installations.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a wider understanding of construction and commercial / procurement markets across the industry and possess the ability to influence, develop and motivate others towards high quality outcomes.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and a Standard DBS disclosure will be required.
