Milk Education is looking for a dedicated and passionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in Calderdale. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About the Role:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning, behavioural, and communication needs. You will work closely with the class teacher to tailor a student’s educational experience, ensuring it is engaging, supportive, and inclusive. This includes:
1. Supporting students in developing communication and independence skills
2. Assisting in delivering engaging, structured lessons and activities
3. Helping create an adaptive, inclusive learning environment
4. Supporting the class teacher with resource preparation and interventions
Key Responsibilities:
5. Provide 1:1 support for students with high-level Special Educational Needs
6. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Support individualised learning plans tailored to specific sensory, behavioural, and medical needs
8. Use initiative and be proactive in adapting the learning environment
9. Prepare resources and contribute to intervention sessions
10. Ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils
11. Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and wider support teams
Candidate Requirements:
12. Experience working with SEN students in a school or similar setting
13. A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
14. Ability to follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures
15. Team player who works well under guidance and independently
16. Excellent organisational and IT skills
17. Resilient, patient, and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
