Wakefield The Senior Communications Officer/Assistant will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies to support the company's objectives. Reporting into the Director – Private Networks and working closely with the group Marketing Manager, the role involves managing media relations, creating engaging content, and coordinating various communication channels to effectively reach stakeholders, and strategically utilising paid media to push business messaging to relevant audiences. Your New Role Principal Accountabilities: Feed into and deliver a communications strategy to ensure that our audiences are communicated to in an effective and timely manner, using relevant channels and content. Copywriting and content production skills across digital and print media channels. Establish and maintain key relationships with journalists, keeping them up to date with key announcements from Ipsum and regularly pitching ideas to them to ensure coverage. Analytical skills and attention to detail – supporting specialist research and horizon-scanning activity. Project management ability – creating, delivering and coordinating plans for individual strategic communications projects. Stakeholder engagement – in support of managing strategic communications partnerships. Support with development of crisis communication strategies and manage potential reputational risks. Monitor and analyse media coverage, providing regular reports on communication effectiveness. External supplier management acumen. Collaborative skills, including the ability to work across all communications disciplines. Innovation and creative idea generation skills. Stays informed about industry trends and regulatory changes in the utilities sector. About You Knowledge & Experience: At least three years’ experience in a communications role for a growing organisation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail. Proven experience dealing with journalists and knowledge of best practice. Proven expertise in content creation for a broad range of channels. Knowledge of communications channels and when to utilise paid content. Worked with a number of key stakeholders across a quick-moving business. A passion for storytelling and generating media coverage to highlight impactful work. Confidence and initiative to find stories from around the business working with our site based teams across the UK. Full UK driving license – role will require travel to sites across the UK.
