£200 - £300pd Umbrella
£233.30pd PAYE Exclusive or £261.45pd PAYE Inclusive
Job Purpose
This role is for a Lead Auditor to plan and deliver investigations, which may include complex, technical, or sensitive areas.
The role involves assessment of allegations/referrals, planning investigation approaches, and evaluating evidence to support decision making. Outcomes can range from no further action to prosecution or police referral. All findings will be documented in case files and communicated through written reports. The role may also contribute to process and policy development, as well as proactive or reactive anti-fraud reviews.
While the general role profile is for a Lead Auditor, this specific assignment focuses on fraud investigation. Therefore, candidates must possess relevant fraud investigation qualifications or have equivalent experience in undertaking such work.
Main Responsibilities
* Engage actively with clients and understand business operations to ensure audit work focuses on key risks. Work primarily within a specific portfolio but also across various audit areas with an understanding of wider organisational risks.
* Assist the Audit and Assurance Manager in developing and implementing effective audit and counter-fraud plans addressing key risks within assigned Council activities.
* Support the development of audit and counter-fraud strategies to improve service quality and effectiveness.
* Conduct audits, investigations, and assignments of complex or sensitive nature to improve governance, risk management, and internal controls.
* Support auditors in delivering both routine and complex audit assignments, ensuring standards and deadlines are met.
* Prioritise workload to ensure timely completion of assignments with high-quality outcomes.
* Communicate findings, risks, and outcomes effectively to senior managers, stakeholders, and leadership teams to drive service improvements.
* Enhance service impact and efficiency through collaboration within the division and with external partners, especially with other local audit teams.
