We are seeking a fully qualified Management Accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) to take ownership of internal financial management, with a strong focus on capital efficiency, working capital optimisation, and business performance.
This role goes beyond reporting — it is focused on ensuring that the company’s capital is deployed effectively, cash flow is optimised, and financial decisions are driven by clear, data-led insight.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts & Financial Control
* Own the preparation of monthly management accounts with detailed commentary
* Ensure all financial records are accurate, reconciled, and up to date
* Maintain strong financial controls and reporting integrity
Capital Efficiency & Cash Management
* Monitor and optimise total capital deployed across the business
* Analyse return on capital across products, categories, and operations
* Ensure efficient allocation of funds to maximise profitability
* Track and improve the cash conversion cycle
* Provide clear visibility on where capital is tied up and how it can be improved
Working Capital & Inventory Optimisation
* Take ownership of working capital performance, including:
* Stock holding period
* Inventory turnover
* Cash tied up in stock
* Identify slow-moving or inefficient stock
* Work closely with purchasing to improve buying decisions and stock flow
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
* Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
* Monitor performance vs budget and provide variance analysis
* Support planning based on cash flow and capital constraints
Commercial & Financial Analysis
* Conduct detailed financial analysis across:
* Product profitability
* Margin performance
* Cost structures
* Identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement
* Provide actionable recommendations to improve overall business performance
VAT, Compliance & Reporting
* Oversee VAT returns and ensure full compliance
* Maintain adherence to UK financial regulations
* Support audits and ensure proper documentation
Process Improvement & Systems
* Improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and controls
* Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track performance and capital usage
* Drive automation and efficiency within finance operations
Business Partnering
* Work closely with senior management and operational teams
* Translate financial data into clear commercial insight
* Support strategic decision-making with accurate financial information
Key Requirements
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) – essential
Strong experience in management accounting and financial analysis
Proven ability to manage working capital and cash flow
Strong commercial mindset with focus on efficiency and profitability
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
Strong understanding of VAT and UK compliance
High attention to detail with a proactive approach
Preferred Experience
* Experience in inventory-heavy, high-volume businesses (e.g. eCommerce / wholesale)
* Strong understanding of stock cycles and capital tied up in inventory
* Experience improving cash flow and capital utilisation
