Job Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role of an Operations Supervisor will be to help manage a team of drivers, aswell as the Traffic Office / Allocations. You will support the Operations Manager to lead and manage all bus operations, and through efficient management of the operation to grow profitability and provide a consistent quality of service to our customers.
You will support the delivery of depot performance in respect of drivers and bus operational staff and managing the customer experience, dealing with any customer service issues that arise.
To ensure a safe, punctual, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of services through robust and fair management of the team.
Support the Operations Manager to deliver a highly skilled and trained workforce through driver engagement and compliance with operational policies and procedures.
Due to the nature and importance of this role, you will need to be a Team player and you will need to work closely with other members of your team to ensure that daily targets are met. You must lead, promote structure and discipline within the workplace, behave in a professional manner and lead by example. You must treat other employees and staff with dignity and respect as you would expect to be treated yourself.
Responsibilities
Drive engagement with driving team and customers.
1. To carry out driver appraisals and direct report appraisals and improve staff skills and identify any training needs.
2. To conduct any disciplinary, grievance or absence management reviews in accordance with Company policy.
3. To carry out return to work interviews.
4. To ensure all drivers are inducted effectively.
5. To ensure that staff welfare issues are dealt with effectively.
6. To manage your direct reports in accordance with Rotala policies, standard operating procedures, and all relevant legislation To support the Operations Manager in delivering agreed plans and budgets, including established level of service and service quality Ensure that the Operator’s Licence undertakings are adhered to.
7. Support the Operations Manager to ensure staff planning at the depot meets the operating requirements of the business.
8. Ensure an effective working relationship with recognised trade union representatives and officials
9. To support the Operations Manager to manage and plan collision reduction and staff/passenger injury reduction.
10. To ensure the effective management of Incident Prevention.
11. To manage and deliver agreed key performance indicators.
12. To ensure positive working relationships are maintained between operations, commercial and engineering functions.
13. Ensure you liaise with external bodies to improve performance of lost miles and punctuality. To support the Operations Manager ensuring all cash handling procedures are followed.
Essential Qualifications
14. PCV licence holder.
15. GCSE Maths and English.

18. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
19. Excellent knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office.
