Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
* There are 4 people living at Shillmoor, each with different needs, aged 19-60.
* Most may not need physical assistance but might need support when out and about. They have challenges including autism and learning disabilities.
* Activities enjoyed include walking, swimming, trampolining, LEGO, and more.
* Interests include retro cartoons, music, museums, baking, and day trips.
* We prefer staff who are patient, calm, and respectful, avoiding bossy, hurried, or noisy behavior which can upset us.
* At least 7 colleagues work on each shift, with shifts from 8am to 10pm, including nights and waking nights.
* Support involves specialist training in Positive Behaviour Support, Total Communication, autism, and learning disabilities.
Your values:
The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 in Social Care and experience in mental health, autism, sensory communication, physical health, and PBS. If not qualified, relevant social care experience is necessary. You should connect well with people, be passionate about supporting independence, and willing to mentor colleagues. We will support your development with training in Positive Behaviour Support, Makaton, and the Picture Exchange System.
