The Role
* Lead the technical team, ensuring the effective management of food safety and quality standards across the site.
* Be the point of contact for all technical aspects, including regulatory compliance, HACCP, quality control, and customer specifications.
* Manage the site's Quality Management System (QMS), including the implementation of systems to monitor and maintain product consistency.
* Take ownership of all technical documentation, ensuring it meets the necessary standards and is accurate for all production runs.
* Coordinate external audits (BRC, customer audits) and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
* Oversee the management of product specifications, raw material sourcing, and supplier approval, ensuring they meet the highest food safety and quality standards.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety legislation (DAFM, HACCP, BRC), and update systems in line with customer and industry requirements.
* Lead and manage the continuous improvement process, driving initiatives that will improve food safety, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency.
* Develop and deliver training and development plans for the technical team to enhance knowledge and skills.
* Work closely with other departments (Production, Purchasing, R&D, and Logistics) to ensure seamless coordination of technical requirements.
* Actively contribute to all operational meetings, helping the site achieve its production and quality targets.
The Person
* Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related technical field.
* Proven experience in managing technical operations within a food manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC standards, and other relevant food safety legislation.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a technical team.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming production challenges.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally with various departments.
* Experience managing audits, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
* Attention to detail and a passion for driving high standards of quality and food safety.
