6 Months contract with Local Authority
Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Building Surveyor to join our team. The role involves delivering professional building surveying services, managing projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to all statutory regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards across residential, commercial, and public sector properties.
Key Responsibilities
* To visit NNC owned properties and gather building and asset information.
* Conduct surveys and inspections of residential, commercial, and public buildings.
* Prepare reports, cost estimates, and specifications for repair, maintenance, and refurbishment works.
* Manage projects, including planning, budgeting, and overseeing works on site.
* Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, Health & Safety legislation, and other statutory requirements.
* Provide advice on structural defects, property condition, and remedial solutions.
* Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, clients, and local authorities.
* Undertake party wall matters, dilapidations, and access audits as required.
* Prepare tender documents, assess contractor bids, and administer contracts.
* Monitor project progress, manage risks, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
* Act as an independent certifier or client representative where required.

* Excellent knowledge of UK Building Regulations (A–Q) and practical application.
* Strong project management skills, including financial and time management.
* Effective communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
* Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Professional, approachable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
* Proven experience as a Building Surveyor in residential, commercial, or public sector projects.
* Experience with JCT, NEC, or other construction contracts.
* Familiarity with Party Wall Act, CDM Regulations, and health & safety compliance.
* Full UK driving licence preferred.
