Job Title: Non-Teaching Head of Year with DSL Responsibilities
Location: Queen Mary’s High School, Walsall
Contract: Permanent, 37 hours/week (Term Time + 2 weeks)
Salary: NJC Grade 6 (SCP 15–23), Actual: £25,939–£29,749
Queen Mary’s High School is an academically selective girls’ grammarschool with a co‑educational sixth form, located in the heart of Walsall. Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the pastoral care, personal development, and academic monitoring of a designated year group.
* Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), supporting the DSL in all aspects of safeguarding and child protection.
* Be a key contact for safeguarding concerns, maintaining records and liaising with external agencies as needed.
* Foster a positive, inclusive culture and promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing.
* Support students at risk, work closely with parents and staff, and lead year group assemblies and tutor programmes.
Essential Requirements:
* GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4+), A Levels.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and high standards.
