Grantley Hall, a five‑star luxury hotel in North Yorkshire, is seeking a Night Porter to provide exceptional 5‑star service during night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 5‑star service throughout the night and maintain safety and security of the hotel.
* Maintain a management presence to ensure guests are looked after and the Night Porter team meet high standards.
* Work with the Head Porter and Reception Supervisors to ensure smooth handovers between night and day shifts.
* Occasional daytime shifts may be required to support the Front Office operation.
* Handle guest complaints and escalations to relevant Heads of Department or Guest Experience Managers.
* Treat all employees fairly and consistently, in line with employment terms, local legislation, and hotel policies.
* Assist Night Porters with queries, provide solutions, and raise issues to the Front Office Manager or Assistant Front Office Manager.
* Maintain awareness of Standard Operating Procedures and aid in their ongoing development.
* Assist in training new team members and maintain training records.
* Exceed guest needs during the night, including general requests, transport arrangements, and room dining.
* Support Front Office operations, handling late arrivals, early departures, and telephone enquiries.
* Complete billing, auditing, and clerical tasks as set by SOPs and management direction.
* Ensure hotel cleanliness and standards, providing cleaning where required.
* Conduct regular security walks to ensure safety and security of the property.
* Report issues and take appropriate action to mitigate risks, notifying relevant managers.
* Assist every department to uphold Grantley Hall’s standards and quality.
* Adhere to the company’s Health & Safety policy and fire procedures at all times.
Key Skills, Qualities & Experience
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with polite etiquette.
* Computer literate; knowledge of Opera Cloud desirable, training will be provided.
* Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
* Well presented and adhere to Grantley Hall's grooming standards.
* Initiative and willingness to go above and beyond to support the wider team.
