The Trauma & Orthopaedic Outpatients department at the William Harvey Hospital, Kent is looking for a Fracture Clinic Nurse. This role will predominately be to manage the trauma patients through their VFC pathway. However, there may be other clinic demands. The busy department sees patients Monday to Friday through on both elective or emergency pathway. The department has a small team of staff made up of; Registered Nurses, Orthopaedic Practitioners, Health Care Assistants and Administrators. We are based in a purpose built building on the William Harvey site.

To deliver a high quality, effective and flexible service in respect of the VFC pathway from referral to treatment
Work closely with Orthopaedic Consultants, Hand Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Orthopaedic Practitioners and all clinical staff to ensure that patients are actively managed through their VFC pathway.
To attend the daily VFC meeting and present the patients to the Orthopaedic team.
To liaise with patients and relatives, providing up to date advice and care.
Work alongside the Virtual Fracture Clinic administrator with clear communication.
Manage referrals from General practitioner and to triage to the appropriate consultant or therapist.
Ensuring adherence to Trust policies and procedures with regards to VFC pathways.
Maintain up to date knowledge of all applicable targets and processes relating to the VFC pathway.
Ensure inter-provider transfers are timely and that the appropriate paperwork has been completed and sent or received.
Predict and prevent breaches of targets of the VFC pathway through liaison with the Operational teams and clinicians.
To be able to use own judgement to independently assess as first point of contact, a range of issues and situations.
Ensure all outpatient clinic outcomes are recorded for VFC clinics.
Support the flow of clinic by completing dressings, taking blood, supporting the plaster room team, help manage the flow of patients.
