Social Worker – Single Point of Advice (SPOA)
About the role
Join East Sussex as a Social Worker in our outstanding SPOA Team and embark on a challenging but hugely rewarding career where you will make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families.
Key responsibilities
* Screen and triage referrals within 24 hours.
* Make decisions about where needs sit on the Continuum of Need and which services are appropriate.
* Identify cases requiring action by a Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) or Early Help support.
* Work closely with mental health colleagues in a genuinely multi‑disciplinary environment.
* Engage effectively with children, families, and professionals using creativity, compassion and authority.
Qualifications & experience
* Experience working directly with children and families.
* Experience completing assessments that form the basis of effective plans.
* A solid knowledge of legal and policy frameworks that inform and mandate social work practice.
* Able to maintain professional boundaries in complex and emotionally challenging situations.

* Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday; 4:30 pm on Friday.
* One day per week working from home.
* No out‑of‑hours work.
