North Lanarkshire Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Contracts Manager to lead the operational and performance management of our School Transport provision. This is a pivotal role within the Community Operations team, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families across the region.
We are looking for a confident and strategic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic delivery and continuous improvement of school transport services. You will act as the lead officer for all transport contracts, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with legislative and policy requirements.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and service providers to ensure that transport solutions meet the evolving needs of the Education function. Your leadership will be key in driving performance, innovation, and customer-focused service delivery.
You will lead the management and development of school transport contracts across North Lanarkshire and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including fleet management and health & safety regulations.
You will identify and develop commercial opportunities to enhance service value and efficiency. You will oversee capital and revenue budgets, including preparation, monitoring, and reporting and analyse performance data to produce high-quality reports which will inform decision-making.
Experience in managing projects from inception to delivery, ensuring agreed outcomes and benefits are realised is essential.
You must be customer-focused, with a strong understanding of Education service requirements. Commercially astute, with experience identifying and delivering value-driven opportunities.
An excellent communicator, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. A proven project manager, with a track record of delivering complex initiatives successfully.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, with evidence of continuous professional development.
