Pumping Support Engineer

This role is based in the Wastewater Service Delivery Business Unit within the Asset Management department. The vacancy is for the Yorkshire region; the base location will be determined by your home location. This is a permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week, Monday - Friday).

What we do

We provide essential water and wastewater services to the Yorkshire region and aim to protect the environment and support the health and wellbeing of our communities. This is an exciting time in the water industry with new environmental legislation, investment, and evolving customer expectations. The Asset Management department helps meet these changes.


Responsibilities

* Drive and deliver customer service excellence and operational performance in line with Yorkshire Water business goals.
* Identify and deliver mitigation options for operational risks, create high-quality business cases for investment, and communicate scheme progress to stakeholders.
* Understand and control risks across the Pumping network at asset, geographical, and process levels.
* Lead and drive health and safety, risk management, and control of work activities; develop sustainable solutions to operational risks.
* Work with frontline teams to exhaust local funding options before progressing through PROAMS; for unfunded risks, develop and implement mitigation options with operational teams.
* Lead PROAMS meetings, ensuring evidence is provided for risks and actions are followed through.
* Develop training, coaching, and processes to enable data-driven business risk documentation in EDA; champion risks through the approvals process.
* Create high-quality EDA needs documents presenting well-justified business cases.
* Maintain visibility of risk progress through the investment cycle and communicate with stakeholders to mitigate ongoing risks.
* Collaborate with Asset planning teams to optimise network performance using available data.


What skills & qualifications you will need

* Understanding of Health and Safety legislation, policies, and requirements related to the sewer network.
* Expert knowledge of sewerage system assets, common failure modes and solutions.
* Knowledge of company Quality systems.
* Recognised qualification or proven technical experience in Wastewater Operations.
* Proven ability to influence the performance of operational teams and to prepare successful business cases for investment.
* Evidence of providing exceptional customer service.
* Understanding and experience of financial and cost centre management; ability to acquire, interpret, and disseminate technical and financial information.
* Proven planning ability with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to articulate complex issues clearly.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; IT literacy; ability to build and maintain stakeholder networks.
* Demonstrates Yorkshire Water values and behaviours; knowledge of Microsoft applications, YW telemetry, and ICOM systems.
* A full valid EU driving licence and use of a car.


You will also benefit from having

* Understanding of E&M aspects of the network.
* Understanding of the gravity sewer network and treatment processes.
* Health & Safety training (minimum IOSH qualification).
