Head of Department - Computer Science & Business Studies Location: Bury Contract: Permanent, Full Time Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier by agreement) Salary: MPS/UPS TLR (depending on experience) About the Role: Aspire People is working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school to recruit a dedicated and experienced Head of Department for Computer Science and Business Studies. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled leader or aspiring middle leader to drive progress, lead innovation, and shape a future-ready curriculum that motivates and engages students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Sixth Form). Key Responsibilities: - Provide strategic leadership across the Computer Science and Business Studies department. - Lead and support a team of teachers to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and student outcomes. - Design and deliver a robust, modern, and inspiring curriculum that prepares students for the digital and business world. - Monitor and analyse performance data to identify trends, inform planning, and drive improvement. - Foster a positive, inclusive, and aspirational learning environment for students and staff. - Contribute to the wider school leadership team and whole-school improvement priorities. What We're Looking For: - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong subject background in Computer Science, Business Studies, or both. - Proven track record of delivering strong academic outcomes at secondary level. - Leadership experience or readiness to step into a middle leadership role. - Up-to-date knowledge of national curriculum developments and assessment strategies. - Strong communication, organisational, and team-building skills. - A passion for equipping students with the digital and commercial skills needed for modern careers.
