Fixed Income Settlements Associate | 2-3 days in London office
Role Overview
Provides operational support to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of Fixed Income securities traded across global markets. Ensures all activity is accurately captured within internal books and records, while maintaining full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
The role covers pre- and post-settlement operational processes including trade confirmation, cash management, and cash and position reconciliations. The position also supports specialised functions such as Asset Servicing (corporate actions and entitlements), Global Cash Management, and Wire Payment Operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Executes end-to-end Fixed Income settlement activities to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient processing.
* Provides pre- and post-settlement support including confirmations, cash movements, reconciliations, and position breaks.
* Ensures settlement activity is correctly reflected in internal systems and books of record.
* Maintains compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, risk controls, and reporting requirements.
* Communicates with internal stakeholders and external clients to respond to both standard and non-standard settlement inquiries.
* Identifies, analyses, and resolves settlement discrepancies and exceptions; escalates more complex issues where required.
* Monitors daily operational performance and addresses issues to meet defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Integrates and analyses data from multiple systems to improve efficiency, reporting, and operational insight.
* Performs routine and non-routine transactions, reconciliations, audit support, and client/internal requests.
* Analyses and resolves complex Fixed Income operational issues in line with market standards and procedures.
* Exercises judgment to diagnose and resolve problems within defined policies and controls.
* Works independently on complex and time-sensitive settlement activities, including non-standard scenarios.
* Supports continuous improvement initiatives through participation in planning, testing, and implementation activities.
* Contributes to change management initiatives including readiness assessments, stakeholder engagement, execution, and sustainment.
* Supports communication planning by developing targeted messaging and identifying appropriate distribution channels.
* Acts as a day-to-day operational contact for third-party vendors where applicable, supporting implementation and ongoing maintenance of vendor solutions.
* Builds and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet service delivery expectations.
* Follows documented procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and operational integrity across all activities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Previous Experience in Fixed Income
* Prior exposure to Capital Markets operations.
* Hands-on Experience with settlement, clearing, and custody systems including Crest, Euroclear, and Broadbridge.
* In-depth understanding of Fixed Income products, trade life cycle events, settlement processes, and operational controls.
* Strong knowledge of operational risk management and regulatory requirements within Capital Markets.
* Excellent customer service and stakeholder relationship management skills.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making abilities.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
* High proficiency in standard office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Proven collaboration, teamwork, and influencing skills.
* Technical proficiency gained through education and/or relevant business Experience .
