Job Title: Occupational Therapist
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work with individuals of all ages who have physical disabilities, including children and older adults, in either a community or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conducting functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities, particularly in a community setting, and will also have experience in assessing complex pediatric cases. Additionally, the candidate should possess a deep understanding of specialist equipment for both children and adults to promote independence, as well as knowledge of health and social care legislation, health and safety, and risk management.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities
* Assess for major adaptations to meet complex needs for both children and adults
* Make sound clinical judgments and appropriate recommendations for aids to daily living, adaptations, and care packages
* Deliver training and coaching to staff of various grades
* Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting
* Undertake supervisory responsibility for staff of various grades, including student occupational therapists and apprentices
* Promote the role of Occupational Therapy within the workplace
* Respond positively and flexibly to changes in the workplace
* Demonstrate self-motivation, time management, and problem-solving skills
* Make sound decisions while working in a demanding environment
Requirements:
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
* IT skills, including experience with the Office package, emails, Word, and Excel
* Ability to manage conflict and prioritize workload
* Physical ability to perform moving and handling of people and equipment
* Full driving license and access to a vehicle insured for business purposes
* Knowledge of Equality & Diversity issues
* Willingness to work flexible hours
* Alignment with the Directorate's statement of principles
Additional Requirements:
* Proven experience in quality assurance and reviewing services for children and young people
* Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
* Commitment to championing the rights and well-being of children and young people
This is a 3-month contract with the local authority.
