Job Overview
The Senior Wellbeing Practitioner will deliver evidence‑based early interventions to parents and young people in education and health settings. The role includes developing and supporting colleagues, offering supervision and contributing to the development of the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accountable for a defined clinical caseload, under direction of the MHST Senior Clinician.
2. Provide screening, assessment, psychosocial formulation and interventions (CBT, Guided Self‑Help, solution‑focused work, systemic work, group support) and measure outcomes for milder mental health difficulties in educational settings.
3. Offer comprehensive, accessible services tailored to the whole school community (ages 4–19 years).
4. Ensure services are equitable and non‑discriminatory across age, gender, ethnicity, disability and protected characteristics.
5. Support professionals in referrals and mental health aspects of their roles; liaise with wider professionals and agencies.
6. Make appropriate referrals to statutory or voluntary services as needed.
7. Provide consultation to teachers and family workers on mental health issues in school settings.
8. Clinically develop group work provision and training for teaching staff; mentor EMHP colleagues.
9. Design training packages for teachers and support/awareness sessions for young people and parents/carers.
10. Develop local knowledge of services and facilities, especially regarding mental health.
11. Deliver psycho‑education and support to parents/carers and teachers, using accessible language.
12. Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience through workshops, assemblies and PSHE lessons.
13. Conduct risk assessments, prepare risk management plans and initiate actions where indicated.
14. Contribute to multidisciplinary team working.
15. Demonstrate understanding of legal and ethical issues in children/adolescent mental health.
16. Understand and apply the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Safeguarding, Child Protection procedures and child/adult welfare legislation.
17. Manage challenging behaviours and exposure to distressing circumstances.
18. Support rollout of further MHSTs across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Clinical Supervision & Training
1. Undertake appropriate clinical supervision on a regular basis in line with professional guidelines.
2. Provide clinical and case supervision to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and trainee EMHPs, covering:
o Low‑intensity cognitive‑behavioural informed interventions.
o Whole‑school approach to mental health in education settings.
o Attend the EMHP Supervisors Course at the University of East Anglia.
o Offer training to education staff and other agencies in CBT‑based interventions.
o Participate in local and national training relevant to the role.

Qualifications & Training
* Core professional qualification relevant to mental health (e.g., nursing, occupational therapy, social work).
* Evidence of continued professional development.
