Job Summary

These posts are based at Louth Hospital. Working within our busy environment you will carry out Health Records duties as part of the wider Outpatients team, assisting in the daily provision of a professional health records service ensuring patients, relatives and visitors receive the best possible service. The role will involve the filing, locating, retrieval and preparation of patient case notes, to ensure that national waiting times are adhered to. Advising patients, staff and relatives by telephone and dealing with their enquiries is also a key part of this role. The role will also include the need to cover reception areas when required.

About Us

Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city and with the opening of the medical school, it provides all major specialties and a 24‑hour major accident and emergency service.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence of significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24‑hour major accident and emergency service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county. This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Job Description – Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be able to work as an individual and as part of a team having the ability to be flexible, being able to prioritise and organise work in order to meet tight deadlines whilst being able to adapt to the changing needs of the service. It is essential to be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, together with accuracy and attention to detail whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. Good data entry/keyboard skills are desirable together with a basic understanding of medical terminology.

* Good standard of education with at least 2 GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths or an NVQ2 in a relevant subject
* Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
* Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology (preferred)


Desirable Requirements

* Knowledge and experience of using PAS and other patient/hospital related computer systems
* Knowledge or experience of NHS working
* CLAIT or European Computer Driving Licence
