Summary of Role:
The Principal Specialist, Pricing & Bidding role will lead the pricing activity for key bids within the Procurement team. Working closely with the Material Project Managers, Programme Managers and a broad supply chain to establish a material cost estimate compliant to UK MOD or US DoD standards. This is a key role within the Procurement and SCM function and plays an important part in meeting the growth ambitions of the company.
Main Duties:
1. Providing commercial insight to support bid competitiveness and profitability, including margin analysis and cost drivers
2. Contributing to long-term pricing strategy development and influencing procurement decisions at programme level
3. Working closely with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Material Management and Programme teams to establish pricing strategies, ensuring bid alignment and cost realism
4. Leading the pricing activity across a wide-ranging supply chain covering all commodities
5. Preparing the release of technical drawings to the supply base, ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other relevant export control regulations
6. Undertaking detailed Price Analysis and preparing summary reports for senior managers
7. Developing cost estimates using a range of formula’s and estimating techniques
8. Identifying pricing risks and developing mitigation strategies aligned with programme and contractual requirements
9. Maintaining records and updating procurement systems
10. Briefing senior leadership and communicating with peers
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
11. Experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Commodity, Commercial Estimating and/or a related field
12. Able to lead or perform effectively in a multi-functional team
13. Excellent verbal and written communications
14. Experience in proposal and programme governance activities
15. Experience of problem solving and dispute resolution
16. Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret cost structures and pricing models
17. Proficiency in data analysis and scenario modelling tools
18. Experience or knowledge of MRP, SAP and purchase order placement/ material receipt processes
19. Flexible and positive attitude, able to perform under pressure
Desirable but not essential
20. Experience managing a team
21. Related degree, MCIPS or equivalent
22. Experience as Control Account Manager
23. Knowledge of import/export legislation and logistical requirements
