Role Overview
In supporting the company’s continued growth, we are strengthening our business development team. We are seeking a commercially driven and technically credible Business Development Manager to drive growth in new plant opportunities across the UK combustion market.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Growth
Identify and develop new plant project opportunities across the UK.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of capital equipment projects.
Secure early specification and preferred supplier status.
Deliver agreed sales targets and margin objectives.
Market & Sector Development
Develop growth strategies within key sectors including but not limited to:
Energy & Power Generation
Food & Beverage
Chemical & Petrochemical
Pharmaceutical
Metals & Manufacturing
Waste-to-Energy & Environmental
Monitor market trends, decarbonisation initiatives, and industrial investment plans.
Identify opportunities linked to energy transition, hydrogen, and low-carbon combustion technologies.
Technical & Commercial Leadership
Conduct site visits and technical discussions to understand client requirements.
Work closely with engineering and proposals teams to develop compliant, competitive solutions.
Lead commercial negotiations and contract discussions.
Prepare high-quality proposals, presentations, and technical submissions.
Relationship Management
Build long-term strategic relationships with key decision-makers.
Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking forums.
Act as the primary commercial interface during the pre-contract phase.
Reporting & CRM
Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and CRM updates.
Provide regular sales forecasts and market intelligence.
Contribute to strategic planning and annual budgeting processes.
Candidate Profile
Experience
Industrial combustion systems
Boiler plant
Burners or thermal processing equipment
Industrial heating or capital plant sales
Experience selling into EPCs, consultants, and industrial end users.
Technical Knowledge
Combustion systems
Industrial burners
Boiler plant
Thermal oxidisers or furnaces
Control systems and combustion management
Awareness of UK industrial regulations and safety standards.
Understanding of decarbonisation, hydrogen, and energy efficiency trends (desirable).
Skills & Attributes
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage long sales cycles and complex projects.
Confident communicator at all organisational levels.
Self-motivated, target-driven, and results-focused.
Excellent presentation and proposal-writing skills.
Qualifications
Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Energy or similar) – Desirable.
Previous Experience in a similar role within a related industry.
Full UK driving licence.
Willingness to travel nationally.
