Main duties of the job
Toreceive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service orhealthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Toensure administrative and clerical duties within the Practice are carried outwithin the guidelines and policies.
To project a positive, friendly and professionalimage to patients, visitors and colleagues at all times.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities forthis role. There may be on occasion, arequirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors suchas workload and staffing levels.
* Ensurean effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and anyother visitors to the Practice.
* Dealwith general enquiries, make appointments and book patients in as arrived.
* Ensurethose patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation areseen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
* Ensurethat all new patients (temporary / INT or permanent) are aware of Practicearrangements and requirements and registration procedures are completedaccurately.
* Processhome visits in accordance with Practice policy, ensuring to accurately recordall relevant details and referring to the duty clinician accordingly.
* Receiveand make telephone calls as required, ensuring accuracy of detail and promptappropriate delivery of messages.
* Enterpatient information on to the computer as required, ensuring accuracy andadherence to data protection legislation.
* Supportthe prescription team with repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practicepolicy.
* Advisepatients of relevant charges for private services, ensuring pre-payment ismade, receipts issued and paperwork completed for financial auditing.
* Ensurepaper records are kept in good repair, with all necessary information up todate and clearly visible.
* Ensureelectronic records are up to date and accurate.
* Openingup the premises when required, de-activating the alarm and preparing thepremises to receive patients.
* Lockingup the premises when required, ensuring that the building is totally secure,internal lights are all off and the alarm activated.
* Ensurebuilding security at all times, keeping staff access points locked between 8:30close of business and closing windows if last to leave the office at the endof the working day.
* Anyother reasonable task allocated by a member of the Management team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE English (C or above) and at least three others
* Educated to A-level / equivalent or higher, with relevant experience
Experience
* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience of administrative duties
* Experience of working in a health care setting

* Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
