Job Title: Mechanical Technician (Shift-Based Role)
Location: Royston, UK (on-site)
Salary: 24/7 shift – £44,113 + 35% shift allowance + lunch allowance £792.50 = £60,345.05 + benefits.
As a mechanical technician, you will join an established Mechanical Team within our top tier COMAH site. The role requires an experienced industrial mechanically biased maintenance technician who can demonstrate and execute a wide range of practical mechanical skills, ranging from basic workshop skills including fabrication of pipework, steelwork and plastics to working out on plant in a methodical and logical manner such that reactive faults can be identified and repaired safely, alongside working proactively on planned maintenance and routines scheduled by our Maintenance planner.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of preventative/proactive maintenance of mechanical systems and their sub/support systems.
* Attendance to any reactive/corrective maintenance that arises.
* Fault finding, completing any repairs/replacements/calibration or set‑up, installation of new systems/equipment, commissioning alongside operations on returning to service.
* Contribute to improving site performance in all aspects of safe operation, regulatory compliance, productive output and cost efficiency by improving engineering reliability of site equipment and ensuring appropriate maintenance frequency of assets is complied with.
Qualifications & Skills
* Previous manufacturing/chemical industry experience.
* Knowledge and experience of site services, gas, compressed air, steam, cooling water and how to de‑energise and work on safely.
* Knowledge and use of technical drawings & operator manuals alongside mechanical exploded view/cross‑sectional drawings and P&IDs to aid fault diagnosis process.
