Recruit4staff are representing a well-established engineering business in their search for a Workshop Manager to work in Skelmersdale

Job Details:

1. Pay: Up to £55,000 per annum
2. Hours of Work: 07:00 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday, 07:00 - 12:00 Friday
3. Duration: Permanent
4. Benefits: Standard pension, 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
Job Role: The Workshop Manager will oversee all shop floor manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-driven production. Acting as a hands-on leader, the Workshop Manager will be responsible for developing and executing fabrication schedules, managing workflows, and ensuring production targets, quality standards, and budgets are consistently met. The Workshop Manager will lead daily fabrication activities including welding, cutting, and assembly, while also focusing on improving productivity, reducing waste, and minimising environmental impact. The Workshop Manager will train, coach, and supervise fabrication staff, driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency across the workshop.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

5. Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or in a similar role managing fabrication or engineering shop floor teams
6. Strong understanding of fabrication processes, technical drawings, welding techniques, and quality control standards (ISO)
7. Experience working with mild steel and stainless steel fabrication, including TIG and MIG welding
8. Knowledge of pipework, vessels, and structural steel fabrication
9. Strong leadership skills with a track record of improving team performance
10. Good understanding of health & safety regulations and safe workshop practices

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

11. Experience within chemical, food processing, hygienic, or other regulated industries
12. Time-served fabricator/welder with previous MIG and TIG coding
13. Welding inspection qualifications
14. Health & Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH
Additional Information
