Job Description
Futures are working with an established electronics business in West Yorkshire in their search for a Principal Electronics Engineer. This role will play a key part in shaping the technical direction of both new product development and existing product enhancement, within a business supplying complex solutions into major corporate customers.
As Principal Electronics Engineer, you will balance hands-on electronic design with technical leadership, supporting and guiding a small but developing engineering team. The role is predominantly hardware-focused, but you will retain involvement in embedded software and firmware development, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys technical breadth alongside responsibility.
Principal Electronics Engineer – Role & Responsibilities – Electronics / Hardware / PCB / Embedded / RF
* Take technical ownership of multiple electronics projects, including new designs and legacy product updates
* Deliver hardware solutions to agreed timescales and commercial constraints
* Design, develop and test electronic circuits, schematics and PCB layouts
* Maintain involvement in embedded firmware, including hands-on coding where required
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support product delivery
Principal Electronics Engineer – Skills & Experience – Electronics / Hardware / PCB / Embedded / RF
* Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
* Strong experience in PCB schematic capture, layout and hardware design
* Working knowledge of embedded processors and firmware development
* Background within an SME environment supplying into larger customers
* RF electronics experience would be highly advantageous
* Proven experience providing technical leadership or mentoring within an engineering team
