About the role
As a Software Development Engineer you will perform software engineering design and testing in support of the Westinghouse nuclear analysis, utility, and related code systems in a strongly regulated software environment. This includes software tasks through all phases of the lifecycle, including setting requirements, defining software and data designs, implementing the designs in code, developing test plans, executing test plans, and documenting each of these phases.
You will report to the Mgr, Software Sys Technology and be located at Springfields.
Responsibilities
* Develop, modify, and maintain software applications on Linux and Windows platforms
* Perform software verification and validation
* Document the work that was performed, in accordance with required engineering procedures
* Troubleshooting and developing software solutions to customer identified problems
* Providing customer service and interfacing with customers
* Supporting general Fuel Engineering Technologies design code, procedure and methods development and updates
* Leading training, development and qualification of other software engineers
* Developing software project proposals including: technical scope descriptions, schedules and cost estimates
* Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor other new developers
Qualifications
* Software Development Expertise
* 3+ years of experience with the following languages/frameworks:
* C
* Oracle SQL
* RUST
* JavaScript
* Node.js
* Svelte
* Experience in software projects that follow software engineering standards (requirements, design, implementation, testing)
* Understanding of data modeling approaches
* Understanding of software test approaches
* Understanding of end users' expectations of software
* Experience with source code version control systems
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
* Proficiency in English language, critical for reading and writing technical documents
* Effective communications skills, written and oral
* Ability to work in an international team-oriented environment
* Possess a mindset for finding, analyzing and efficiently solving a variety of software related problems
