Overview

We have a rare opportunity for an administrator to join the Alfred Barrow District Nursing team. The post is for 30 hours per week Monday to Friday. The administrator role is paramount for the service. You will answer the telephone, complete non-clinical administrative duties and lead with inputting data for our essential audits and spreadsheets. You will work within a very supportive, experienced and friendly professional team and have senior nurse support to triage the referrals into the service. This is a brilliant opportunity to experience working in a team and develop knowledge on NHS computer systems and processes. You will have access to training opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge. We need someone who is proactive, positive and able to work in an adaptable environment.

* Provide comprehensive administrative support service, including telephone contact with staff and patients, notes/files management, preparation, inputting patient data, attending meetings, taking minutes, preparing spreadsheets and audit information, archiving patient notes, photocopying and scanning.
* Order patient equipment via community equipment store and NHS supplies.
* Act as main point of contact for patients/relatives/carers and other health care professionals; take messages, signpost callers for non-clinical advice as appropriate; ensure adherence to Caldicott guidelines; communicate in a compassionate and empathic but assertive manner as appropriate.
* Provide information to patients regarding community appointments and direct queries to the correct source.
* Liaise with team members as appropriate to ensure an effective use of clinical time.
* Work with a supportive team to triage referrals into the service and support service delivery.

Context: Our service operates from multiple hospitals and community locations including Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, and various community premises across Morecambe Bay.


Responsibilities

* Utilise a variety of IT packages, maintain notes/files, prepare and input data, attend meetings, take minutes, prepare spreadsheets and audit information, archive notes, photocopy and scan.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Proactive, positive and able to work in an adaptable environment.
* Willingness to develop knowledge on NHS computer systems and processes; training opportunities available.
