We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our Medicine of the Elderly team at WGH. This post will support the Occupational Therapist with a focus on assessing home environment for equipment as well as delivering acute rehabilitative intervention for this group of patients.
You will be expected to work independently, delivering therapy interventions on the wards by assessing the patient's needs, modifying treatment and care plans, and delivering this care without supervision. This will include progressing patient function, reassessing and discharging within scope of practice. Full engagement with the multidisciplinary team is another key part of this position.
Excellent communication skills and previous experience of Occupational Therapy in the acute hospital setting with clear demonstration of this in your application is essential.
You will also support the Therapy teams through a range of non-clinical duties, from equipment ordering, referring patients to primary care teams, to assisting with statistical information collation for patient activity audit purposes, as well as make telephone calls to carers and care providers.
There will be a commitment to weekend working in the occupational therapy team at WGH as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.
Therapy Services support staff development through appraisal process, supervision and CPD opportunities.
