Job Description

Plant Manager - Electronic Manufacturing Services

TUALCOM

London / Berkshire (Please see full ad for explanation)

About Us:

TUALCOM specialises in the design and manufacture of advanced RF navigation and communication systems. We are a global leader in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, offering the best performance for size, weight, and cost on the market.

Our customers span the defence, law enforcement, and civil sectors, where we have established a strong track record through innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. Following rapid growth in the UK, we are now poised to strengthen our presence both domestically and internationally.

Our 2026 strategy includes the establishment of a new and dedicated Production Facility in the UK. We are therefore seeking an experienced Electronics Manufacturing Services Manager to play a key role in setting up and leading the facility, due to go live in the summer.

As of writing, the location of the facility is TBD but we are in advanced stages of securing a site between the M3 and M4 corridors. There would be high likelihood of starting this role in our London E14 / Docklands offices for product training before moving fully On-Site.

What you will do:

The Plant Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end operational leadership of our first manufacturing site outside of Turkey.

The role ensures safe, compliant, efficient, and scalable manufacturing operations, delivering high-reliability electronic products to defence, aerospace, and industrial customers.

Although in the defence industry, we do not make any products that are designed to hurt, kill, maim, injure or destroy - we specialise in electronic devices for anti-jamming and anti-spoofing.

The EMS Plant Manager owns production performance, quality, cost, delivery, people, and continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with UK, export-control, and customer-specific requirements.

What makes this role stand out:

You will be the first Plant Manager of this plant. This is not a role taking over from someone else, this is not a role doing what has always been done before - this is a role where you will get the chance to put in processes as you see fit, to make recommendations, to implement what you see as best practice, to do things to the standards you set.

We are building the plant out now, putting equipment in place - that will be done. The plant will not be operational before this successful hire for this role starts.

It is imperative this something you have done before. We are in the process of putting everything into the plant that will be required to make it operational. A plant for making electronic devices where the highest of standards are key.

We'll put in the equipment, you'll make everything tick, you'll be the driver behind the success.

Day to day duties will include:

Once the plant is equipped and ready to go, day to day duties will include:

* Plant & Operations Leadership
* Production & Delivery
* Quality & Compliance
* Supply Chain & Inventory
* People Leadership
* Financial & Performance Management
* Continuous Improvement & Industrialisation

We are looking for someone who knows how to make a plant/factory tick. Make it run smoothly. Is ahead of everything, can spot issues before they come problems, someone who can make an industrial Electronic Manufacturing Plant a place that people could set their watch by and somewhere that is THE standard for manufacturing within the local area.

Given the nature of this role, this position will be base 5 days a week on site. There is not and there will not be any provision to work from home or work in a hybrid fashion. This role will will be 5 days per week on site.

What we require form you:

Essential

* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
* Proven experience in Electronics Manufacturing, with demonstrative experience in a plant or operations leadership role.
* Strong background in EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) / CEM (Contract Electronic Manufacturing) environments.
* Experience managing SMT lines, assembly, test, and integration.
* Solid understanding of IPC standards and quality systems.
* Proven leadership in low-volume, high-mix, high-reliability production.

Desirable

* Experience in defense, aerospace, or safety-critical electronics.
* Exposure to export-controlled programs (ITAR/EAR awareness preferred).
* Experience supporting customer audits from Tier-1 or government customers.
* Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and digital manufacturing tools.
* Lean / Six Sigma certification.

Key Competencies

* Strong operational and people leadership.
* Structured, data-driven decision-making.
* Excellent stakeholder and customer communication.
* Calm under pressure, delivery-focused mindset.
* High integrity and compliance awareness.
