Job Description
We're looking for a hardworking Driver's Mate to support delivery operations and assist drivers with loading, unloading, and customer interactions. This is a physically demanding but rewarding role that suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, teamwork, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the driver with loading and unloading goods safely and efficiently
* Help plan the order of deliveries and unloads to ensure smooth workflow
* Communicate professionally with customers on-site
* Navigate or direct the driver when required
* Carry items into customer premises, including heavy or bulky goods
* Ensure goods are handled with care to avoid damage
* Support the driver with completing delivery paperwork or digital logs
* Maintain a clean, tidy vehicle and help with basic vehicle checks
* Follow health & safety procedures at all times
Requirements
* Good level of physical fitness (the role involves heavy lifting)
* Punctual, and willing to work early starts or long shifts
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Positive attitude and willingness to support the driver and wider team
* Ability to follow instructions and work safely
* Experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential
Desirable Skills
* Previous experience in removals, courier work, or warehouse operations
* Knowledge of manual handling best practices
* Good local area knowledge
