About The Role

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Job Location: Bideford

Salary: £34,756.80 per annum, based on 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Contract Type: Permanent

Are you looking to be a part of something special, where children can feel at home, supported, and encouraged to grow and flourish every day?

Our Registered Manager is seeking a Deputy to assist them in their established home in Bideford, supporting children with social and emotional needs related to Autism, ADHD, and Trauma. You’ll play a vital role assisting with the day-to-day operations of the home, recruitment of team members and ensuring the team provide the best possible care and support for the children.

You’ll ensure that the children we support experience as many positive opportunities as possible—just like other children. But we can’t do this without our managers and support team.

A day in the life of a Deputy Manager will involve:

* You’ll be assisting the Registered Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the children’s home, ensuring our children and young adults are receiving all the necessary care and support they require.
* Leading and supporting team members in delivering high-quality care, promoting independence and personal development for our children and young adults. Ensuring all team members are undertaking necessary and mandatory training.
* Assisting with compliance, safeguarding, and health & safety standards, and Ofsted Audit compliance.
* You’ll be assisting with the planning, reviewing, and implementation of individualised support plans to meet the specific needs of each child/young person.
* Acting as the primary point of management in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring continuity of care and effective management of the home.

To be a successful Deputy Manager, you’ll need:

* Patience, compassion, and resilience – The children you’ll support may have experienced trauma, which may have an impact on their behaviour.
* Great communication skills – Both verbal and written communication is important in this role as you’ll be speaking to a lot of different people at different times and need to be able to update the children’s plans.
* A driving licence – Our children love to be out in the community. We need you to be able to drive them to where they need to go. We have the cars you just need the licence.
* To be flexible – The Deputy Manager will play a key role in assisting the Registered Manager to keep the home running day to day and are required to undertake a variety of tasks including undertaking of health, safety and risk assessments, budget management, and willingness to contribute to the on‑call rota.
* Minimum 1 years' experience in a Leadership and Team management care role, ideally with or working towards your Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

In return for your time, you’ll get:

* Holidays – You’ll get 28 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays.
* Pension scheme – Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
* Learning & Development Opportunities – We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
* Discounts – You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
* Wellbeing Support – Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. On top of this, our therapies team offers a six weekly confidential check-in clinic, and group reflective practice sessions.
* Cycle2Work –The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
* DBS – As this role requires you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.
* After 12 months service – You’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (including immediate access to a GP!). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary, and even more high street discounts.

In line with safer recruitment guidelines, we will run an online check on the successful candidate. This can and may include any public social media profiles.

At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce and ensuring we have an inclusive environment for all our team members. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
