An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the Orthopaedic Team and contribute to the provision of a seven day service within the Orthopaedic unit at Ninewells Hospital. The Orthopaedic unit is a busy receiving centre for all trauma in Tayside, alongside elective admissions for joint replacements. It is crucial that therapy is provided over seven days to aid capacity and flow and to ensure enhanced recovery pathways are optimised. There is also ongoing development of a joint school which is part of the enhanced recovery pathway post joint replacement to facilitate timely discharge.
This is an exciting time for an registered occupational therapist who enjoys team working and has well developed communication skills to join us as we continue to expand and develop our occupational therapy team to include service provision over 7 days. This post provides the potential to enhance your knowledge and skills to act independently to provide a full comprehensive specialist service by delivering OT interventions to patients across the whole patient pathway with responsibility for maximising their functional potential and quality of life.
We are looking for an individual who will provide specialised occupational therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment discharge planning and onward referral, facilitating high quality treatment with the multi-disciplinary team, working in partnership with all agencies providing care and support for this patient group. You will be expected to work as part of the team in ensuring effective delivery of patient care and be able to successfully work together with colleagues in the hospital and community settings to ensure that there is a seamless approach to practice. This is an ideal position for a Band 5 with relevant clinical experience or a Band 6 wishing to continue their clinical development. Leadership and mentoring skills will be developed as this post provides supervision and support for junior staff. As a band 6 OT, you will assist in the development of the service within your team as well as supporting change and development within the wider OT department.
Allied Health Professions are moving to 7 day working and this post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care.
For this post, you can expect to be fully supported through our established system of personal development planning and training programmes. We have a strong commitment to MDT working, clinical governance, CPD and evidence based practice. We fully support undergraduate OT training programmes and regularly accept students on practice placements from Scottish and International Universities. The post holder will be educated to diploma or degree level in Occupational therapy as well as holding a current HCPC registration.
Please let us know if you wish to discuss assistance with reimbursement of relocation expenses if you require to relocate to Tayside.
