Huntington’s Disease Specialist Nurse at Exemplar Health Care
Location: Across all Exemplar Health Care homes, national role
Contract type: 40 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday but must be flexible
Salary: £57,000 per annum, plus £3,000 car allowance
Responsibilities
* Support the implementation of new initiatives to improve people’s quality of life.
* Develop effective working practices.
* Establish a complete understanding of the needs of people in the homes who have a Huntington’s Disease (HD) primary diagnosis, including secondary diagnoses, complex care, and risk requirements.
* Tailor colleague training requirements to meet the needs of people in a person‑centred way, and support the delivery of this training.
* Develop and embed an HD Champion role, and support HD Champions to link directly with their local HD networks.
* Work with the Operational Team (Clinical Nurse Managers, Registered Nurses, and HD Champions) to offer support and coach.
* Assist with the development of quality policies and procedures, audit materials and Service User, Colleague and Relative information materials.
* Build external brand reputation in our ability to care for people with HD.
About You
* You must have a first‑level nursing registration with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) PIN.
* Minimum of two years’ experience in a specialist nurse role and extensive knowledge of Huntington’s Disease.
* Evidence of further professional development in care, management or quality.
* Ability to coach and motivate others.
* Strong background in action planning.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Pragmatic approach with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, applied in complex situations.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and travel to all locations across the business.
