Description Job Description Are you looking for an opportunity that will allow you to influence Scotland’s approach to educational improvement? The National Improvement Framework (NIF) sets out the Scottish Government’s vision and priorities for Scotland’s children to enable all young people to achieve their potential no matter their background. The NIF supports high-quality learning and teaching, the core principle of Curriculum for Excellence and provides robust, consistent and transparent data across Scotland to increase understanding of what drives improvements across all parts of the system. This post is based within the National Improvement Framework Unit within the Learning Directorate’s Improvement, Attainment, and Wellbeing Division. You will join the Improvement and International Team and support the unit’s role in working with partners, including Education Scotland, to secure the successful implementation of the NIF. Responsibilities Delivery of an annual two-day meeting of the First Minister’s International Council of Education Advisers, this involves liaising with senior officials, Ministers and the Council members themselves; organising logistical arrangements, and supporting the Team Leader to explore potential meeting themes and create the whole two day programme. Supporting the annual review of the National Improvement Framework (NIF) and Improvement Plan, in line with the statutory duty placed on Ministers. Working with colleagues across SG, Education Scotland, local authorities, teachers’ unions, parents, and children and young people to review the impact of improvement activities for reducing inequalities of outcome for learners and to identify any new improvement priorities for the year ahead. Working across Learning, Education Reform, and Children and Families Directorates to ensure colleagues are clear how their work contributes to the key priorities and to delivery of the outcomes set out in the NIF. Lead on and provide secretariat support to the new Education and Childcare Assurance Board. The Board will meet six times a year. Support the international activity for Learning Directorate, including Scotland’s participation in international networks such as the ARC, and co-ordinate timely responses to requests for data for inclusion in the OECD Education at a Glance publication. Line management responsibility for one Policy Officer.
